Vincent Filardi

I am a mathematical- and data-focused professional researcher with strengths in applying well-rounded technical and analytical skills to a variety of interdisciplinary computational problems. Currently, I work towards a Ph.D. in data science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute under the guidance of my advisor, Oren Mangoubi. Previously, I earned a Bachelor of Science from The City College of New York (CUNY) in pure math with a minor in computer science. With my unique combination of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, I harness a strong quantitative, technical, and creative background to solve real-world complex industrial problems that require both analytical precision and out-of-the-box thinking.

In the realm of end-stage renal disease, the statistical and machine learning models used for early detection and treatment management necessitate flexibility. These models heavily rely on the quality of patient data, which can be sparse, exhibit a high signal-to-noise ratio, and have non-uniform sampling. At RRI, I leverage my competencies in mathematics, data science, and computer programming to build and refine models that accurately classify the state of renal patients using sparse, non-uniformly sampled, and noisy dialysis data.

I possess strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills, allowing me to effectively share information, analysis, and engaging narratives that inspire action. I excel at synthesizing and translating complex technical and data-intensive analysis into clear and valuable insights for our diverse collaborators at RRI. With these abilities in mind, I am eagerly motivated by the opportunity to collaborate within RRI and make a meaningful contribution toward enhancing the lives of renal patients.
