Fansan taught courses of biomedical signal processing as well as design of biomedical instrumentation at Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, China, from 1992 to 1996. He was vice president at Wuhan Miyou Medical Instrument Co., Ltd. in Wuhan, China, from 1981 to 1989. He holds master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from HUST and in chemical engineering from Columbia University. He received his PhD from University of Maastricht, Netherlands. His current research interests are video image processing, body fluid dynamics and body composition, modeling of electrical properties in tissue, and application of bioimpedance technique in dialysis patients. He is author of over 200 publications, including peer-reviewed papers (67), book chapters (5), and international conference proceedings (144). He holds 16 U.S. patents.
